Voicemail user guide

Everything you need to set up your mailbox, record your greetings and manage your messages from any phone.

From home
Dial *98
Then enter your password.
From anywhere else
Call your number
Press * once you hear your greeting, then enter your password.

Accessing your voicemail

Dial *98 from your home phone. If you are away from home, dial your home phone number and press the * key once you hear your greeting. Now enter your password.

Once you have connected, enter your assigned telephone number and then follow the message prompts.

The first time you log in

The system asks you to record two things: your name and your unavailable greeting.

Greetings

Incoming calls you don’t answer are directed to your voicemail. Callers hear your greeting and then record their message.

To record a greeting, dial *98 followed by your password, then press 0 for mailbox options — you will be prompted to record.

Unavailable greeting

Played to the caller when you don’t answer within the specified number of rings.

Busy greeting

Played when you are already on the phone and another call comes in unanswered. If no busy greeting has been recorded, the unavailable greeting is played instead.

Not presently in service
Temporary greeting

Recorded instead of your busy or unavailable greeting — useful when you’re away for a few days and won’t be returning calls right away.

Folders

Folders sort and store messages on the voicemail system. Four folders exist:

New Old Work Family & Friends

New messages arrive in the New folder. Once you listen to a message without deleting it or saving it elsewhere, the system moves it to Old.

When you log in, the system opens the New folder if you have new messages; otherwise it opens the Old folder.

Retrieving your messages

After logging in you are told whether you have new or saved messages, and placed in the New or Old folder accordingly. Once you are in a folder containing messages, press 1 to begin playback.

The message envelope

Each message is preceded by an “envelope” announcing:

Current position in the mailbox
Date and time received
Caller ID information, if available
Duration of the message

Press 1 at any time during the envelope to skip straight to the message.
